Wire Haired Dachshund

A wirehaired dachshund with the exception of eyebrows, jaw and ears, the body as a whole is covered with a uniform short, tight, thick and hard rough outer coat with finder, somewhat softer, short hair on its undercoat distributed between the coarse hair.  An absence in a wire hair dachshunds undercoat is considered a fault.  Distinctive facial hair include the beard and eyebrows.  The longhair dachshund has shorter hair on the ears than the body.  Generally, the arrangement of the hair on a wire haired dachshund resembles a smooth dachshund at a distance.
